Volunteer Terms of Participation

1. Application and acceptance

Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Every application is reviewed, and qualified applicants are contacted regarding references, interviews, and background screening where applicable.

Medical and ministry volunteers may be asked to provide current credentials or licensure.

2. Participation contribution

Published participation amounts are planning estimates and may change based on airfare, lodging, transportation, group size, exchange rates, and mission operating conditions.

Mission participation contributions are estimates and may change based on airfare, hotel rates, transportation costs, exchange rates, and mission operating expenses. Accepted participants will receive a detailed participation agreement outlining included services, payment schedules, cancellation terms, and fundraising policies before any final payment is due.

3. What the contribution covers

• Round-trip airfare
• Lodging
• Daily meals
• Local transportation
• Airport transfers
• Mission logistics
• Volunteer identification materials
• Orientation and training
• On-site coordination
• Security and operational support
• Mission administration

4. What is not included

Passport and visa fees, immunizations and personal medications, personal travel insurance, baggage fees beyond the group allowance, personal spending, optional activities, and travel to and from the U.S. departure airport are not included unless stated in your final participation agreement.

5. Payments and fundraising

• Contributions may be paid in full or through the published installment schedule for approved volunteers.
• Volunteers may raise support through a personal fundraising page, church sponsorship, family and friends, employer matching, or corporate sponsorship.
• Amounts representing direct personal travel benefit to the participant are generally not tax-deductible.

6. Conduct and safeguarding

• Serve in a Christ-centered manner and follow team leadership at all times.
• Follow all safety, child safeguarding, photography, and privacy policies.
• Respect the dignity, culture, and consent of every person served.
• Children must travel with a parent or legal guardian at all times.
• Alcohol, illegal substances, weapons, and unauthorized travel away from the team are prohibited.

7. Health, insurance, and risk

Mission travel involves inherent risk. Participants are responsible for their own health preparation, immunizations, travel documents, and insurance coverage.

Itineraries and project sites may change for safety, weather, or operational reasons. Medical and dietary information provided is used only for participant care and is stored securely by authorized staff.

8. Cancellation and withdrawal

• Amounts already committed to airfare, lodging, and group logistics may be non-refundable once booked.
• Volunteers who withdraw may request that eligible funds be transferred to a future mission or redirected as a gift to the program.
• UnityReach Global may withdraw a participant whose conduct, health, or documentation places the team or the communities served at risk.
