Governance & Accountability
Gift Acceptance Policy
Generosity is a trust. This policy defines what we can responsibly accept, how gifts are valued, and when a gift must be declined.
1. Who receives the gift
Donations are made to Sapibon Foundation in support of UnityReach Global programs. Sapibon Foundation is recognized as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
2. Gifts we accept
- Cash, check, card, and online gifts
- Recurring monthly giving
- Church, ministry, business, and foundation sponsorships and grants
- Donor-advised fund distributions and employer matching gifts
- Publicly traded securities, which are normally sold upon receipt
- In-kind goods that directly serve a program need
- Professional services offered pro bono, such as medical, legal, translation, printing, or logistics support
3. In-kind donation standards
- Medical supplies and medications must be unexpired, properly labeled, and legally transportable to Haiti
- Clothing and school supplies must be new or clean, complete, and in usable condition
- Equipment must be functional, and the donor should identify any service, parts, or power requirements
- The organization may decline items that cannot be shipped, cleared through customs, stored, maintained, or distributed with dignity
4. Gifts we decline
- Gifts with conditions that conflict with our Christ-centered mission or with Haitian or U.S. law
- Gifts that require us to endorse a product, candidate, or political position
- Gifts that grant a donor control over hiring, beneficiary selection, or program decisions
- Gifts whose acceptance would create an unacceptable financial, legal, reputational, or safety burden
- Anonymous gifts that cannot be verified where verification is legally required
- Real estate, vehicles, and complex or illiquid assets, unless reviewed and approved in advance by leadership
5. Restricted and conditional gifts
Donors may designate a gift to a program such as the Haiti mission, the 100 Children Education Initiative, medical outreach, clean water, or feeding.
If a designated program is fully funded, completed, or cannot proceed, the organization may apply the gift to a closely related need consistent with our mission, and will contact major donors before redirecting a significant gift.
6. Valuation and receipts
Receipts acknowledge cash gifts by amount and describe in-kind gifts without assigning a value. U.S. tax rules place the responsibility for valuing donated property on the donor, and gifts of significant value may require an independent qualified appraisal.
No goods or services are provided in exchange for a gift unless the receipt states otherwise and reduces the deductible amount accordingly.
7. Sponsorship recognition
Sponsors may be recognized on the website, in printed materials, on mission apparel, and in the annual report according to the level described in the sponsorship agreement. Recognition is acknowledgment of support, not an endorsement or advertising arrangement, and any sponsor may request to remain anonymous.
8. Review and authority
Routine gifts are accepted by staff under this policy. Non-standard, restricted, or high-value gifts are reviewed by leadership, and the organization reserves the right to decline any gift.
9. Questions before you give
Donors considering a large, in-kind, or complex gift are encouraged to contact us first at info@unityreachglobal.org or 954-554-0525 so we can confirm the gift can be used well.
UnityReach Global does not provide tax or legal advice. Please consult your own advisor regarding the deductibility and valuation of any gift.
